The least expensive option?
Prefolds with covers. There’s a variety of colours and prints available for every budget.
That said, cloth diapering is an investment that saves you money in the long run. Many cloth diapers have fabulous resale value so keep that in mind!
As easy as disposables?
All-in-Ones or Pocket Cloth Diapers.
Keeping it as simple as possible, these cloth diapers are recommended for daycare or dad-approved use. Add an eco-friendly disposable liner and poopy diapers become a breeze!
Best for newborns?
Fitteds with Covers.
We highly recommend kissaluvs size 0 fitted plus a diaper cover because they are incredible at containing newborn poop. Add a fitted cover and they become virtually leak proof. For extra absorbency during the night try our wool covers for extra absorbency and protection. Wool is breathable, soft and a fantastic year round solution essential for cloth diapering.
When to go One-Size?
They work with your growing baby and can even be used on multiple diaper-wearing children in the home of different ages. That said, wait until your munchkin is 12-14 lbs or 3-4 months of age before switching from a newborn to a one-size to get the best fit.
Which cloth diaper is the trimmest?
Cloth Diapers vary in their trimness. If a trim fit is important to you, or you’re looking to add a few diapers to your stash perfect for under jeans, then we recommend you try one of the following diapers:
Tots Bots Easy Fit
What are and should I use hybrid cloth diapers?
Hybrid / All-in-two cloth diapers consist of a waterproof cover and separate absorbent insert. The insert, disposable or resuseable, is either snapped to or laid on top of the diaper cover rather than sewn to the diaper shell itself. The advantage of an all-in-two is the ability to reuse the diaper cover if it is not soiled. We typically recommend 1 cover for every 3 inserts. The inserts can come in a variety of fabrics including hemp, bamboo, cotton and fleece for every price point and degree of absorbency.
How do I handle poop?
For added convenience, we carry a variety of eco-friendly flushable liners such as our popular Bummi’s Bio-soft liners, AppleCheeks flushable or Grovia Bioliners that offer extra help with those poopy messes. Or, try out a diaper sprayer.
